Our Wedding

September 1st, 2018 will forever be the best day of my life. It was the day that I got to marry my best friend in our favorite place. We had a wedding of 170 people at the place where I grew up going, Devil’s Thumb Ranch. Within 48 hours of being engaged, we had our date locked in. Labor Day weekend 2018.

I cannot even begin to put into words how special our wedding day and the entire weekend was. I felt a love I never even knew possible when I saw Drew for the first time on our wedding day. He is someone who makes me feel my most comfortable self and when he is not around, I feel like a piece of me is missing. He is my person and my rock. The feeling of having all of our family and friends in one place and knowing they are all there for us was extremely humbling.

It was amazing to see our wedding come to life after all of the hard work and planning we put into it. I would be lying if I said I was never stressed or overwhelmed during our 9 month engagement. There are ups and down but my best advice is to never lose sight of what the wedding and marriage truly means.

My goal was to create a rustic, yet elegant mountain wedding. My color palette was green and white, with soft shades of lavender and dusty rose mixed in. I wanted person touches like walking down the aisle to Elvis Presley’s “I Can’t Help Falling in Love” and wearing my aunt’s diamond earrings and bracelet. Drew’s Uncle married us, which was so special and personal and my grandmother gave a beautiful blessing during our ceremony.

Date Night Done Right

180.JPG

Looking for some new ideas for date night? I've come up with 10 things to mix up your same ol' routine, whether you are looking for something casual, a fun day date, a trendy new restaurant to try, or something completely new.

1.         Go check out the latest exhibit at MCA. Or, better yet, go to their live rooftop music, B-Side, every Friday night during the summer from 5-7. It’s only $5 and the ticket includes admission to walk around the museum!

2.       Have you gotten your Feast Locally membership yet? If not, do it! This is a perfect incentive to go try new restaurants, as new restaurants are rotated every month and include different incentives, like 20% off your entire bill!

3.       Ride your bikes to Wash Park and then have a picnic in the park. Does it get any more romantic than that?

4.      Go to the Drive In Theatre and cuddle up with your cutie and share some popcorn. No funny business though!

5.       Check out the First Friday Art Walk on Santa Fe. You can check out some interesting art (and probably interesting people too)!

6.       Looking for a fun day date? Trying floating the Platt River! You can drop in at the Blackrock Lake lot (where C470 meets Santa FE) and then end at Breckenridge Brewery for some cold ones!

7.       Try at whiskey tasting at our local whiskey distillery, Strananhan’s. Bottoms up!

8.      Try the sushi making class at Izakaya (yes you get to eat what you make). Saki bombssss!

9.       In need of another day date? Pack some sack lunches and head to Evergreen Lake, where you can rent stand-up paddle boards and kayaks!

10.    Into country? Why not head to the Grizzly Rose for a concert or some line dancing. Save a horse, ride a cowboy! 😉

A little about yours truly... My name is Alex and I am a loud and proud Colorado native! I went to college in Southern California, which was amazing, but after my 4 years in San Diego, I traded the beach back for the mountains! I have a passion for everything Denver and love to share that with others!

During the summer you can find me hiking in the mountains, enjoying a red rocks concert, sipping an extra dirty martini on a rooftop, or having a park day at Wash Park. My winter favorites include skiing, snowshoeing, and eating my way through the Denver restaurant scene. I love to travel and am always planning my next trip!

Some fun and random facts, since who doesn't love those?

  • Dark chocolate makes me sneeze

  • In third grade I got 3rd place in an Elvis Impersonation contest at Dick's Last Resort (shout out to my dad for taking me there on a school night!)

  • I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain

  • I was in a First Bank commercial in 4th grade (ahh the 15 minutes of fame!)

  • I always say yes to sushi. Yes!

Stay tuned for more fashion, travel, foodie, and Mile High fun!

Love,

Alex
